A comprehensive GPL’d suite and toolkit of Electronic Design Automation tools have been provided and are being used by the gEDA Project. Prototyping and production, electrical circuit design, simulation, and schematic capture are some of the industries where these tools are used.
The platform includes a comprehensive set of free software applications that assist with analog and digital simulation, electronics design, bill of materials production, printed circuit board layout, and other aspects of electronics design. The goal of the project was to eliminate the lack of free EDA tools for the POSIX system and to promote free or open-source hardware improvements.
